AlDeGreat & milehunter !
Click the menu key, access to Tools and then Data Cbl. While in Data Cable screen, make sure Data Cable Mode is either set to Mass Storage or Ask On Connection.

Then, connect the phone to a computer USB port via CA-53 cable. N73 will prompt you to select mode of connection if the Data Cable Mode is set to “Ask On Connection”.
Step by Step, here is how to do it.

1.Connect your Nseries phone to your PC (cable, infrared, bluetooth) and select Mass Storagemode.
2.Backup all your files including files in your memory card.
3.Now, go to My Computer and you will see a new drive in it. Right click the drive and choose Properties. Then click on Tools tab and Defragment Now.
4.Wait until the defragment process finish and then you will see how fast your Nokia phone will be.

This is extremely useful when I’ve to copy files to or from the “expensive” Nokia phone I ever own (so far) with a computer that has not yet installed with Nokia PC Suite application, but there must be a card reader OR CA-53 cable AND a computer that supports USB mass storage device (both hardware and software). The bulky Nokia PC Suite, is not a must-have program in either cases.

hi, me sushmit would like ask that ,can tell me how to defrag the phone memory of nokia n73 music edition?
I frequently defrag the memory card by diskeeper, and perfect disk 2008, but it is too slow, since the inbuilt card reader in the phone reads it at 736kbps and writes at 526kbps, these figs are achieved by using teracopy on memory card. I would suggest in investing in a card reader, i used it once and noticed that read speed increases to 5.5 mbps and write speed increases to 3.5mbps. A card reader cost only rs 150 to rs 200 in india. By using card reader defragmentation completes in few minutes instead of 2 hours in nokia data cable way. Thank you , i will awaiting your reply.
